THE INSIDE AND THE OUTSIDE OF THE CASTLE

The inside :

Rich tapestries and fournitures of the XVI th, XVII th
and XVIII th centuries decorate the apartments of the castle.
 


 

THE RECEPTION ROOM

It was the room for balls and feats.
The Salamander that is the emblem of François 1 overhangs the fireplace.
This room is decorated with real tapestries of Flanders (XVI th)
which were used to insulate from the cold of walls.
Here the blue and the black are the dominant colours.
 
 


 
 

THE LARGE ROOM

In 1619 Louis XIII slept in the room.
 A particular furniture stays here. It builds in pear tree with black colours.
Scenes of wars are carved on ivory.
A series of tapestries depicts the story of Renaud and Armide.

THE KITCHEN

The kitchen includes on great fireplace
which we can observe the coat of arms of the Berthelot
and the shield of Philippe Lesbahy.
We can notice too the sink stone and the wells.

Another piece of furniture remains as interesting as this one.
It is a spanish cabinet that was used to the writing
and people could keep theirs letters, jewels and other precious objects.
 
 
 


 
 

The outside :
 
 


 

The park makes it easy to see the walls of the castle and the covered way.
In the XIX th century the creation of a barrage on the Indre river
enabled the conversion of the ditches into a true lak.
 
 
 


 
 

In the west part of the castle we can find a small gothic chapel
that was restored after the important damage of the second world war.
 

In the south we can see the manor of the Remonière
that was a place were hunters met
and that is built on the walls of gallo-roman villa.
